The Mercedes-Benz plant expansion added one million square feet to the existing site and consisted of new facilities for body, paint and assembly of M-Class Sport Utility, R-Class Grand Sport Tourer, and GL-Class Luxury Sport Utility vehicles. The expansion allowed the plant to double its workforce and was awarded the Associated Builders and Contractors' "Excellence in Construction Award" in the “Mega” project category.
